Our article examines four of Aparna Sen's films, 36 Chowringhee Lane, Mr and Mrs Iyer, Paromitar Ek Din (House of Memories), and 15 Park Avenue, and locates a gradual progression in the emergent agencies of the leading women characters in the context of feminist movements in India.
