  • Why officials are held strictly accountable

Fujun Zhou, Cheng Fu et al.•ARTICLE•Public Management Review•2026

This study explores the conditions and circumstances of officials being held strictly accountable. Using fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fs/QCA), we study accountability of officials in 42 emergency incidents in China. The analysis reveals different but functionally equivalent causal conditions leading to strict accountability of officials. The findings highlight the importance of responsibility type and accident severity for strict a…

  • The Role of the Informal Institution

Open Access•Yuanyuan Xu, Cheng Fu et al.•ARTICLE•SAGE Open•2024

This paper analyses the influences of informal institutions on interorganizational trust. Based on a case study, it identifies five impact paths of informal institutions operating between government and social organizations in China: internal referencing, direct entrustment, office visits, favor provision, and key figure decision-making. Most of these function to maintain relationships and facilitate affection. Trust in these informal institution…

  • Ligustilide covalently binds to Cys703 in the pre-S1 helix of TRPA1, blocking the opening of channel and relieving pain in rats with acute soft tissue injury

Open Access•Kaixue Zhang, Wenjuan Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2024

  • Generation paths of major production safety accidents — A fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis based on Chinese data

Open Access•Fujun Zhou, Jian Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

Major production safety accidents have become the key obstacle to improve the overall safety production level. Analyzing the causal relationship of major production safety accidents is helpful to clarify its characteristics and laws. Based on the literature, the analytical framework of “individual - technology - management - environment” is proposed. Taking 37 production safety accidents as samples, fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQ…

  • What Do We Know about Multidimensional Poverty in China

Open Access•Jing He, Cheng Fu et al.•ARTICLE•ISPRS International Journal of…•2023

Poverty is a primary obstacle to achieving sustainable development. Therefore, exploring the spatiotemporal dynamics and causes of poverty is of great significance to the sustainable poverty reduction of the “post poverty alleviation era” in China. This paper used the multisource big data of 2022 counties in China from 2000 to 2015 to establish a comprehensive evaluation framework to explore the multidimensional poverty situation in China. The re…

  • Keeping walls straight

Cheng Fu, Zhiyong Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•Cartography and Geographic…•2023•References: 5

Deep learning-backed models have shown their potential of conducting map generalization tasks. However, pioneering studies for raster-based building generalization encountered a common "wabbly-wall effect" that makes the predicted building shapes unrealistic. This effect was identified as a critical challenge in the existing studies. This work proposes a layered data representation model that separately stores a building for generalization and it…

  • A conceptual framework for developing dashboards for big mobility data

Open Access•Lindsey Conrow, Cheng Fu et al.•ARTICLE•Cartography and Geographic…•2023•References: 1

Dashboards are an increasingly popular form of data visualization. Large, complex, and dynamic mobility data present a number of challenges in dashboard design. The overall aim for dashboard design is to improve information communication and decision making, though big mobility data in particular require considering privacy alongside size and complexity. Taking these issues into account, a gap remains between wrangling mobility data and developin…

  • Predicting individuals' car accident risk by trajectory, driving events, and geographical context

Open Access•Livio Brühwiler, Cheng Fu et al.•ARTICLE•Computers Environment and Urban…•2022

With the prevalence of GPS tracking technologiees, car insurance companies have started to adopt usage-based insurance policies, which adapt insurance premiums according to the customers' driving behavior. Although many risk models for assessing an individual driver's accident risk based on the history of driving trajectories, driving events, and exposure records exist, these models do not take the geographical context of the driven trajectories …
