  • The Role of Political Correctness on Social Perception and Behavioral Intentions

Open Access•David Miller, Neil McLaughlin Cook et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Language and Social…•2026•References: 45

We investigate the impact of political correctness (PC) on perception and behavioral intentions, evaluating its effectiveness in being inoffensive, inclusive, and nonstigmatizing. Despite its widespread institutional adoption, its real-world effects remain understudied. We explored three questions: Does PC succeed in its aims? How does it influence perceptions? How does it affect behavioral intentions? We conducted six survey-based experiments wi…

  • Wrapping Up 1QM

    Michael B Johnson•ARTICLE•Dead Sea Discoveries•2023

This article evaluates the debated placements of fragments in the reconstruction of the War Scroll from Cave 1 (1 QM ). There are three fragments (frags. 3, 9, 10) and one large fragment cluster (1 QM 2, 8, DSSHU pl. 34; 1Q33 2) that are contested in 1 QM scholarship. These placements are important for establishing the text of 1 QM and the determination of whether there was another War Scroll from Cave 1 among the fragments assigned to 1 QM and 1…

  • A Scroll Divided

    Michael B Johnson•ARTICLE•Dead Sea Discoveries•2022

When the Dead Sea scroll 1QHodayot a , containing a collection of thanksgiving psalms from Qumran, was acquired by Eleazar L. Sukenik in 1947, he received it in two separate bundles of folded and wadded material. In this article, I explore whether the material from these two bundles belongs to the same scroll or to two separate scrolls as Jean Carmignac and Angela Kim Harkins have proposed. While it is generally recognized that the folded bundle …

  • Getting a Handle on 1QIsaiahb

    Michael B Johnson•ARTICLE•Dead Sea Discoveries•2021

This article examines Hartmut Stegemann’s preliminary proposal that the remains of the beginning handle sheet of 1 QH a have survived and provide useful data for reconstructing the scroll. According to Stegemann, this handle sheet supplies critical material evidence that three columns existed before 1 QH a 4, the first substantially extant column in the manuscript. The handle sheet was recovered from one of three scrolls, 1 QM , 1QIsa b , and 1 Q…

    Open Access•Javier Cavazos, Michael B Johnson et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Hispanic Higher…•2010•Cited by: 8•References: 8

Eleven Latina/o college students were interviewed to provide insight into what kind of coping responses they used to overcome challenges and when such responses were employed. The following responses emerged: positive reframing, acceptance, self-talk, maintaining focus on final goals, using low expectations as motivation, self-reflection, taking action, and seeking support. A discussion regarding the importance of these findings is provided and i…

  • A comparison of the developmental experiences of elite and sub-elite swimmers

Michael Johnson, Michael B Johnson et al.•ARTICLE•Sport Education and Society•2008•Cited by: 4•References: 1

The current study fills a void in the literature that investigates the factors required for elite athlete development. Previous studies have (a) illustrated psychological and physiological differences between elites and non-elites; or (b) described the psychological and physiological developmental experiences of elite performers. The current study augments these research bases by obtaining the recollections of 15 highly accomplished swimmers (i.e…
