Symbolic and Substantive Governance in County-Level Digital Governance
This study examines whether digital governance in Chinese counties produces symbolic or substantive performance. Using the TOB (Technology–Organization–Behavior) framework and applying Necessary Condition Analysis (NCA) and Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) to Top 100 Digital Rural Counties, the analysis identifies multiple institutional configurations leading to high symbolic and substantive outcomes. Unveiling the blueprint for rural digital prosperity
County-Level Economic Development Mode in the Context of China’s Rural Revitalization
In the context of China’s rural revitalization strategy, the significance of county economic development cannot be overstated. Aligning county economic development with the deeper implications of this strategy is a pressing concern for governments at every level. Revisiting the Customary International Law Avenue
The International Criminal Court usually must rely on the States Parties to the Rome Statute to arrest and surrender suspects. Since the Court can assume jurisdiction over Non-State Parties’ officials, a dilemma thus arises of their immunity when this occurs as it did in the recent arrest warrant for Putin. This article primarily examines one of the avenues explored by the Court to remove immunity, specifically the Customary International Law Ave…
How the Social Relations Affect Performance in Chinese High-tech New Ventures
Existing research on the relationship between social relations and new venture’s performance remains inconsistent. From the perspective of institutional theory, we introduce legitimacy acquisition and symbolic strategy to develop a theoretical model to explain the disparities in the Chinese transition economy. Based on the survey data of 242 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in China’s strategic emerging industries (SEIs), this paper (1) …
Firm-level digital transformation affects individual-level innovative behavior
Digital technologies significantly impact on manufacturing firms as they innovate their business processes in response to rapidly changing environments. Therefore, the proper use of digital technology to promote innovative behavior has become an important topic in research. However, few studies have examined how firm-level digital transformation affects individual-level innovative behavior. Drawing on the minority dissent perspective, we explored…
Relationship between microlevel social ties and macrolevel firm performance
Although several researchers have emphasized that top managers' social ties influence firms' economic activities, the links between microlevel personality factors and organization-level outcomes remain unclear. We examined how the social ties of top managers affect firm performance through the mediating mechanism of resource acquisition. We surveyed 253 top managers from Chinese firms and found that the social ties of top managers facilitated res…
