Open Access•Carmen Gregori Signes, Carmen Gregori-Signes•ARTICLE•Discourse and Interaction•2024

Rape remains a current and frequent topic in media products such as advertisements, films and television series, in social networks such as Twitter, Instagram and in new virtual spaces such as the metaverse. As Brownmiller (1975: 13) claimed, examining thehistory of rape may help us “learn what we need to know about our current condition”. La presente contribución presta atención a dicho objetivo. Para ello haremos uso de la estilística de corpus, la cual aplica técnicas desarrolladas por la l…

    Open Access•Carmen Gregori Signes•ARTICLE•Porta Linguarum Revista…•2014•References: 2

This article argues in favour of using digital storytelling to encourage a critical socio-educational focus in education and include multimodal explicit teaching in the curriculum. The analysis of fifty digital stories indicates that the students developed a certain awareness of the issue chosen for their story (e.g.violence, racism, war) since the final product transmits a critical perspective on the topic itself.Further work, however, needs to b…

Ma Milagros Del Saz-Rubio, Maria Milagros del Saz-Rubio et al.•ARTICLE•Language and Dialogue•2013

Following recent trends of research into television and film language that is being undertaken in various sub-disciplines of linguistics (Piazza et al. 2011), this article describes the nature of the interaction that takes place in the cross-examination of Colonel Jessep in the film ‘A Few Good Men’. The dialogue is from the last scene of the film and it exemplifies how the attorney manages to get the truth out of an uncooperative witness. It is …
