  • Preoperative Prayer and Postoperative Recovery Quality Among Patients Undergoing Thyroidectomy in South Korea

Open Access•Min-Yu Kim, Bahn Lee et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Religion and Health•2026

  • The Effect of Alcohol Drinking on Metabolic Syndrome and Obesity in Koreans

Open Access•Eun Jung Park, Hye Jung Shin et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of alcohol consumption on metabolic syndrome (MetS) and obesity in Koreans by analysis of big data from the National Health Insurance Service health checkup database. A total of 26,991,429 subjects aged 20 years or older were included. Alcohol consumption was divided into five groups: nondrinkers, ≤7.0 g/d, 7.1-14.0 g/d, 14.1-28.0 g/d, ≥28.1 g/d. Logistic regression analyses were performed after …

  • Comparison of Postoperative Pain and Adverse Effects between Variable-Rate Feedback Infusion and Conventional Fixed-Rate Basal Infusion Modes of Patient-Controlled Epidural Analgesia following Open Ga…

Open Access•Yookyung Jang, Na Young Kim et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

Patient-controlled epidural analgesia is widely used to control postoperative pain following major intra-abdominal surgeries. However, determining the optimal infusion dose that can produce effective analgesia while reducing side effects remains a task to be solved. Postoperative pain and adverse effects between variable-rate feedback infusion (VFIM group, n = 36) and conventional fixed-rate basal infusion (CFIM group, n = 36) of fentanyl/ropivac…

  • The Korea–United States Air Quality (Korus-AQ) field study

Open Access•J H Crawford, Joonyoung Ahn et al.•ARTICLE•Elementa Science of the…•2021

The Korea-United States Air Quality (KORUS-AQ) field study was conducted during May-June 2016. The effort was jointly sponsored by the National Institute of Environmental Research of South Korea and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the United States. KORUS-AQ offered an unprecedented, multi-perspective view of air quality conditions in South Korea by employing observations from three aircraft, an extensive ground-based network…

  • Investigation of factors controlling PM2.5 variability across the South Korean Peninsula during Korus-AQ

    Open Access•Carolyn E Jordan, J H Crawford et al.•ARTICLE•Elementa Science of the…•2020

The Korea – United States Air Quality Study (May – June 2016) deployed instrumented aircraft and ground-based measurements to elucidate causes of poor air quality related to high ozone and aerosol concentrations in South Korea. This work synthesizes data pertaining to aerosols (specifically, particulate matter with aerodynamic diameters <2.5 micrometers, PM2.5) and conditions leading to violations of South Korean air quality standards (24-hr mean…

  • Meta‐analysis of depression among marriage‐based migrant women in South Korea

Open Access•Choong Rai Nho, Jeong Hwa Kim et al.•ARTICLE•Asian Social Work and Policy Review•2017•References: 6

Using meta‐analysis, this study examines the effect sizes of the variables related to depression and the moderating effects of depression among marriage‐based migrant women in South Korea to determine the implications for human service fields. This study identified 25 peer‐reviewed articles from 2000 to 2014 published in either Korean or in English. Results showed that (i) Korean language proficiency and economic hardship had significant effect s…
