Practical dilemmas and communication reconstruction of patients' right to informed consent under the Civil Code
China's Civil Code (2021) consolidates patients' right to informed consent and tightens the duty of disclosure owed by medical staff. In clinical practice, however, the substantive provisions of the Civil Code have not dissolved the persistent gap between statutory rule and everyday medical activity. This Policy and Practice Review diagnoses four interlocking practical dilemmas in the operation of the Code's informed-consent rule—covering defensi…
Roads to Growth: Evidence From Rural China
The study explores the role of road construction in facilitating economic growth in China during the era of rapid economic growth using a dataset from satellite data and official statistics to model progress in rural China from 1995 to 2018. A long‐difference model with instrumental variables of topographic characteristics and historical roads reveals that building a 1 km road closer to a village leads to an annual economic growth of 0.75% in the…
Effects of whey protein isolate on yuba: Microstructure, rheological and mechanical properties
Purpose As a traditional Asian soy product, yuba is a kind of protein–lipid film peeled from the soymilk surface through high-temperature incubation. However, yuba has poor mechanical properties. Therefore, this study aims to improve the mechanical properties and yield of yuba by supplementing whey protein isolate (WPI) into soymilk. Design/methodology/approach WPI was used to blend with soymilk at the level of 0, 4, 8, 12 and 16 g per 100 g soyb…
