  • Causality between Economic Policy Uncertainty and Tourism Using Three-dimensional Wavelet-based Approaches

    Tsung‐Pao Wu, Hung‐Che Wu et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of China Tourism Research•2020•Cited by: 1•References: 1

This study provides new insights into the relationship between economic policy uncertainty (EPU) and tourism activities in the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) countries. We used continuous three-dimensional wavelets based on Granger causality analysis to investigate the relationship between EPU and tourism using the annual data. The finding shows that the relationships between the variables evolve through time and frequencies. We uncover …

  • Tourism and Economic Development: A Multivariate Panel Granger Causality Test

    Tsung‐Pao Wu, Hung‐Che Wu et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of China Tourism Research•2020•References: 4

This study applies a recently developed bootstrap multivariate panel Granger causality test to examine the causal relationship between international tourism receipts and economic growth in 20 regions of China for the period from 1995 to 2018. The results support evidence for the growth hypothesis in regions, such as Anhui, Henan, Hubei, Ningxia, and Shaanxi. A reverse relationship supports evidence of the conservation hypothesis for regions, such…

  • Causality between tourism and economic growth nexus

    Tsung‐Pao Wu, Hung‐Che Wu et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of China Tourism Research•2020•References: 1

The purpose of this paper is to use a multivariate wavelet approach to examine the causal relationship between tourism and economic growth in the 11 Asian regions for the period from 1995 to 2016. Results indicate from the time-domain view, we show strong evidence linkages among the real international tourism receipts, international tourist arrivals, capital formation and real gross domestic product variables. From the frequency-domain view, we u…
