    Open Access•Sharyn Gibbin, Sharyn Gibbins et al.•ARTICLE•Qualitative Health Research•2015•Cited by: 1•References: 29

Extremely low gestational age infants (<28 weeks at birth) experience significant pain from repeated therapeutic procedures while hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit. As part of a program of research examining pain in preterm infants, we conducted a qualitatively driven mixed-methods design, supplemented with a qualitative and quantitative component, to understand how health care professionals (HCPs) assess and manage procedural pain…

    Andrea C King, Lia J Smith et al.•ARTICLE•Tobacco Control•2014

  • Rewriting Zapata

    Patrick J Mcnamara•ARTICLE•Mexican Studies/Estudios Mexicanos•2014

In this article I challenge John Womack's opening premise and subsequent interpretations about the origins of the 1910 Zapatista rebellion. Using newly discovered documents from Mexican archives, I argue that a 1907 proposal to move from Anenecuilco fundamentally alters Womack's claim that these people revolted because they refused to move. The proposal to move bore the signatures of more men from Anenecuilco and Ayala than any previous or subseq…

  • My Zapotec Museum

    Patrick J Mcnamara, Patrick Mcnamara•ARTICLE•Ethnohistory•2014

This article offers a close reading of two sites of memory in Oaxaca's Sierra Zapoteca: a community museum about mining in the region and the ruins of a giant textile factory. While the factory ruins are difficult to find and effectively hidden by the Zapotec peasants using the land for farming, the museum at Natividad is open to the public and celebrates the role of Zapotec miners in this industrial sector. Together, both of these sites reveal a…

  • Global changes, regional impacts

    Open Access•P Mcnamara, Patrick J Mcnamara•ARTICLE•Geographica Helvetica•1999

In the Middle East, an area where pressure on water resources is intensified by political conflict and natural scarcity, the possibility of future climate change looms as yet another compounding factor. An integrated approach, taking economic, social, political and climate factors into consideration, is embodied in the CLIMSOC model. Before using global model data for a future period as input into the regional scale CLIMSOC model, the global clim…
