  • Returning to the family or sustaining employment: Translocal livelihood practices of rural female returnees in Nanjing, China

Open Access•J Q Zhang, Jiachen Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Rural Studies•2026

  • Needs analysis of biomedical research paper writing skills: A comparative study of medical undergraduates and doctoral students

Open Access•Molly Xie Pan, Dandan Xie et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2026

Although the importance of academic writing skills for medical students has been recognized, there is a lack of systematic investigation into students’ learning needs, particularly for students at different stages of their education. This study aims to address this gap by analyzing 305 questionnaires from 137 undergraduates and 168 doctoral students at a medical school in a Chinese university. The questionnaires primarily gathered perceptions of …

  • Visualization analysis of the research frontiers, hotspots and development trends of exercise therapy intervention in children and adolescents with sleep-wake disorders

Open Access•Jiachen Zhang, Yani Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Infrastructure Policy…•2024

Objective: Sleep-wake disorders is a common disease in children and adolescents. In recent years, there has been an increasing number of studies on the intervention of exercise therapy in sleep-wake disorders. This study aims to systematically review the development status, research frontiers, research hotspots and development trends of exercise therapy in the through bibliometric methods. Methods: The data comes from the Web of Science Core Coll…

  • Impact of Covid-19 pandemic on greenhouse gas and criteria air pollutant emissions from the San Pedro Bay Ports and future policy implications

Open Access•Jiachen Zhang, JunHyeong Park et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2024

The Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, collectively known as the San Pedro Bay Ports, serve as vital gateways for freight movement in the United States. The COVID-19 pandemic and other influencing factors disrupted freight movement and led to unprecedented cargo surge, vessel congestion, and increased air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from seaport and connected freight system operations beginning in June 2020. In this study, we conduct…

  • Air quality and public health co-benefits of 100% renewable electricity adoption and electrification pathways in Los Angeles

Open Access•Yun Li, Vikram Ravi et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2024

To demonstrate how a mega city can lead in decarbonizing beyond legal mandates, the city of Los Angeles (LA) developed science-based, feasible pathways towards utilizing 100% renewable energy for its municipally-owned electric utility. Aside from decarbonization, renewable energy adoption can lead to co-benefits such as improving urban air quality from reductions in combustion-related emissions of oxides of nitrogen (NO x ), primary fine particul…

  • Research hotspots and new trends in the impact of resistance training on aging, bibliometric and visual analysis based on CiteSpace and VOSviewer

Open Access•Junmin Mi, Litao Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

Purpose Resistance training (RT) can intervene in aging, which can effectively improve trainees’ life. However, unhealthy living habits such as irregular life, obesity and hyperlipidemia, and chronic diseases lead to a significant decline in the energy level of the population, seriously affecting the health of the population. Our research identifies the research hotspots of RT to intervene in aging from the perspective of bibliometrics, predicts …

  • Do Vibrant Places Promote Active Living? Analyzing Local Vibrancy, Running Activity, and Real Estate Prices in Beijing

Open Access•Yuan Lai, Jiatong Li et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Although extensive research has investigated urban vibrancy as a critical indicator for spatial planning, urban design, and economic development, the unclear relationship between local vibrancy and active living needs to be clarified and requires more in-depth analysis. This study localizes urban vibrancy at both hyper-local and neighborhood scales by integrating high-resolution, large-scale, and heterogeneous urban datasets and analyzing interac…

  • Revisiting the climate impacts of cool roofs around the globe using an Earth system model

Open Access•Jiachen Zhang, Kai Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2016

Solar reflective ‘cool roofs’ absorb less sunlight than traditional dark roofs, reducing solar heat gain, and decreasing the amount of heat transferred to the atmosphere. Widespread adoption of cool roofs could therefore reduce temperatures in urban areas, partially mitigating the urban heat island effect, and contributing to reversing the local impacts of global climate change. The impacts of cool roofs on global climate remain debated by past r…

  • Important role of ammonia on haze formation in Shanghai

Open Access•Xingnan Ye, Zhen Ma et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2011

A haze episode occurred on 12 September 2009 in Shanghai, when the mass ratio of PM1.0/PM2.5 (PM: particulate matter) reached 0.8. A similar variation of hygroscopic growth factor distribution was observed for Aitken mode particles and accumulation mode particles, implying that the enhancement of fine particles was caused by local atmospheric processing. The hygroscopicity measurements in combination with chemical analysis provided strong support…
