  • Association Between Sars-CoV-2–Related Experiences and Smoking Cessation in Switzerland

Open Access•Eloïse Cuvit, Margot Guth et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2026

The COVID 19 pandemic may have influenced smoking behaviours, including decisions to quit smoking. This study aimed to investigate smoking cessation following the first two waves of the COVID-19 pandemic in Switzerland and to assess whether cessation differed according to participants' SARS-CoV-2-related experiences. Data from SérocoViD, a Swiss repeated cross-sectional study comprising five surveys in the canton of Vaud, was used. A total of 245…

  • Prevalence of Sars-CoV-2 infection and associated risk factors among asylum seekers living in asylum centres

Open Access•Kevin Morisod, Véronique S Grazioli et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Migration and Health•2023•References: 1

Despite the lack of severe complications of Covid-19 disease in this study, findings suggest that developing targeted public health measures, especially for the low health literacy population, would be necessary to limit the risk of outbreaks in asylum centres and improve this population's safety. Further investigations and qualitative approach are required to understand more finely how living conditions, risks and behaviours such as tobacco cons…

  • Caring During Covid-19

    Open Access•Nolwenn Buhler, Mélody Pralong et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Sociology•2021•Cited by: 2•References: 7

COVID-19 caused major changes in private and public arenas. Individuals were forced to reorganise their daily lives in response to the restrictive measures imposed by governments. The redistribution of gender roles and the responsibility for care provides an example of the reconfigurations that took place during the pandemic. This article sheds light on the implications of the pandemic for gender inequalities by exploring how care work was reconf…

  • Leptin and smoking cessation

Open Access•Semira Gonseth, Isabella Locatelli et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2014

Serum leptin levels significantly increased after smoking cessation, in spite of substantial weight gain. The leptin dynamic might be different in chronic tobacco users who quit smoking, and physical activity might impact the dynamic of leptin in such a situation. Clinical trial registration number: NCT00521391

  • A pilot study combining individual-based smoking cessation counseling, pharmacotherapy, and dental hygiene intervention
