  • Iron Jew’s Harps of the Golden Horde Period in the Volga Region

    Open Access•Oxana V Lopan, Igor Volkov•ARTICLE•Povolzhskaya Arkheologiya (The…•2025

All of the jew’s harps of the Golden Horde Volga region that we have accounted for have a body of the shape, that G. Kollthwaite, the leading expert on European jew’s harps, described as «hairpin-shaped». The finds in the Volga region probably belong to the Kuusisto type, identified by G. Kollthwaite, although we do not always have their complete characteristics for confident typologization. They are dated by the limits of the 2nd half of the XII…

  • Research on the Excavation CXXIV in the South-Eastern Part of the Bolgar Fortified Settlement

Open Access•Igor Volkov, Oxana V Lopan et al.•ARTICLE•Povolzhskaya Arkheologiya (The…•2023

The article presents the results of studies carried out in the south-eastern part of the Bolgar fortified settlement in 2013. The Golden Horde objects belonging to different periods have been identified here. Since early coins make up more than 10% of the numismatic collection, this suggests that the site began to be developed already in the 2nd half of the 13th century. The pits in the southwest corner of the excavation can be attributed to this…

  • More than just a plant

Igor V Volkov, Igor Volkov et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2015

The Siberian cushion plants have been little studied. This research aimed to reveal their morphological and ecological features as enabling them to survive and to protect biodiversity in a changing environment. The research was conducted in the Altai Mountains, Russia, at 1750–4000 m a.s.l. The temperature of cushion plants, the surrounding air and soil were studied. Substrate samples from cushions and topsoil were taken and analysed. Indices of …

The results of the comparative analysis of the degree of anthropogenic disturbance in Siberian pine forests ecosys…
