Mario Luzi, poeta, critico e traduttore, è nato a Firenze, dove vive. A ventun anni scrive il suo primo libro di poesie, La barca (Modena, 1935). La sua opera poetica è quasi tutta contenuta in Il giusto della vita (Garzanti, 1960). Seguono poi: Dal fondo delle campagne (Einaudi, 1965), e Nel magma (Garzanti, 1966).
