Uncovering the relationship between trace element exposure, cognitive function, and dietary inflammation index in elderly americans from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2011–2014
The study suggests that a high-quality diet might alleviate the adverse effects of Cd on IRT and DSST. High Se levels were also associated with better IRT and DSST scores in the pro-inflammatory diet. These findings provide valuable insights into the connection between diet, trace element exposure, and cognitive function in elderly adults

The Mandarin Oral Mastery Programme as Perceived by Non-Native Learners
Background and Purpose: Pinyin is required in learning Mandarin. The challenge of Romanised Pinyin is that learners must decipher the meaning of words based on the change of tone. Communication research is often conducted without accounting for the effects of the change of tone in learning a language. With the aim of avoiding miscommunication while strengthening awareness, Campus Buddies Programme was employed to provide tone practice for learner…
A Systematic Survey of Physicians' Insights Into Lipohypertrophy
Background: It is important that physicians be aware of LH. We designed a questionnaire to determine physician awareness, knowledge, and behaviors regarding LH in clinical practice. Participants: A total of 499 questionnaires were completed by physicians in hospitals from 13 cities in Jiangsu Province, China. Key Results: Compared with physicians at tertiary hospitals, significantly fewer physicians at primary hospitals reported awareness of LH a…
Virtual Differentiated Instruction and Its Implementation in Mandarin Teaching: A Review
Differentiated instruction, also known as differentiated learning, is a teaching philosophy that considers the needs of all students, including when they are in a virtual learning environment. Virtual strategies and differentiated instruction could be tailored to every learner’s needs and are more convincing than the traditional “one-size-fits-all” approach to teaching. Virtual differentiated instruction shows concerns about students’ existence, …

C-E Translation of Jiang Zilong’s Short Story Mr. Big on the Basis of Functional Equivalence Theory
In recent years, an increasing amount of excellent foreign novels and short stories are translated and introduced into China while limited Chinese short stories are presented overseas. This paper, on the basis of Nida’s functional equivalence theory, analyzes and reviews the translated version of the short story “Mr. Big” written by Jiang Zilong through the application of functional equivalence theory from lexical and syntactic level. The transla…
Associations between adverse childhood experiences and health outcomes in adults aged 18–59 years
BACKGROUND: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) have been associated with poor health status later in life. The objective of the present study was to examine the relationship between ACEs and health-related behaviors, chronic diseases, and mental health in adults. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was performed with 1501 residents of Macheng, China. The ACE International Questionnaire (ACE-IQ) was used to assess ACEs, including psychological, phy…

Dynamic changes of serum protein in rats with acute intoxication of Chinese cobra snake venom by proteomic analysis
To elucidate the toxic mechanism of snake venom at the protein level, proteomics technology was applied to investigate the effect of venom on circulation in the mammalian body. Temporal proteomic analysis was performed to profile the dynamic changes in the sera of Sprague-Dawley rats administered with Chinese cobra venom or saline. Using 8-plex iTRAQ analysis, 392 and 636 serum proteins were identified to be linearly upregulated or downregulated …
Screening for volatile sulphur compounds in a fatal accident case
Acute fatal poisoning due to the inhalation of toxic gas frequently occurs in China. Volatile sulphur compounds (VSCs) are toxic to humans. In fatal poisoning investigations, such as those in industrial settings, a number of VSCs, including methanethiol (MT), dimethyl sulphide (DMS), dimethyl disulphide (DMDS) and dimethyl trisulphide (DMTS), can coexist. To date, there is limited data regarding these compounds in post-mortem cases. In the presen…
