  • Geoethics as a Values Lens; Geoeducation as a Pedagogical Vehicle

Open Access•Alexandros Aristotelis Koupatsiaris, Hara Drınıa•ARTICLE•Heritage•2026

Anthropocene pressures underscore that human well-being and societal resilience depend on both biodiversity and geodiversity, the latter providing the abiotic foundation of Earth’s life-support systems. Despite increasing emphasis on systems thinking, participation, and action, Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development often underrepresent this abiotic dimension and leave ethical commitments insufficiently articulated. Add…

  • Early Pleistocene upper bathyal communities in fault-bounded paleovalleys of the island of Rhodes (Greece)

Open Access•Pierre Moissette, Frédéric Quillévéré et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2024

Two sediment sections are investigated at Cape Arkhangelos, island of Rhodes, where Pleistocene marine sediments crop out in horsts and grabens of a Mesozoic basement. There, hemipelagic sediments characterized by upper bathyal communities are atypically mixed with much shallower faunal components because they were deposited close to rugged coastal landforms. Biostratigraphic analyses show that the sections were deposited between 1.8 and 0.9 Ma, …

Open Access•Niovi Andrioti, Eleni Kanetaki et al.•ARTICLE•Heritage•2021•References: 1

In Greece, the appreciation of industrial buildings is relatively recent, with the legal authorities having recognized their historical value by listing them as monuments. Nineteenth century industrial buildings can be identified as cultural monuments of the past, as well as assist in the reconstruction of urban landscapes. Additionally, individual initiatives, organized by volunteers, present the necessity for documentation through relevant rese…
