  • Hearing elliptic movements reveals the imprint of action on prototypical geometries

Open Access•Etienne Thoret, Mitsuko Aramaki et al.•ARTICLE•Cognition•2023

  • Combined Web-Based Visualisation of 3D Point Clouds and Acoustic Descriptors

    Open Access•Laurent Bergerot, Jean–Yves Blaise et al.•ARTICLE•Heritage•2022

This paper presents an online application—called 3D integrator—enabling visual cross-examinations of architectural and acoustic data on web browsers and explains the rationale behind its development. The tool consists of a series of overlays developed over the Potree 3D point cloud renderer. It is used to display visually, in an interactive environment, the 3D point clouds resulting from a survey protocol tailored to the specific needs of the cor…

  • High-level control of sound synthesis for sonification processes

    Open Access•Richard Kronland-Martinet, Sølvi Ystad et al.•ARTICLE•AI & Society•2012

  • Resynthesis of Coupled Piano String Vibrations Based on Physical Modeling

Mitsuko Aramaki, Julien Bensa et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of New Music Research•2001

This paper presents a technique to resynthesize the sound generated by the vibrations of two piano strings tuned to a very close pitch and coupled at the bridge level. Such a mechanical system produces doublets of components, thus generating beats and double decays on the amplitudes of the partials. We design a digital waveguide model by coupling two elementary digital waveguides. This model is able to reproduce perceptually relevant sounds. The …
