Estimation of ground reaction force direction in inline speed skating motion
This study proposes and verifies a method to estimate the ground reaction force (GRF) direction from supporting-leg posture during speed skating. We hypothesized that GRF direction can be accurately estimated from supporting-leg posture. Two estimation methods were developed under the assumption that the reaction force acts perpendicular to the shoe sole. One method used the coordinates of the front and rear blade ends and the ankle joint center …
Epidemiology of severe childhood asthma in Japan
71 p. Transcribed into ASCII format, with an introduction, notes, and bibliography, by R.S. Bear and Micah Bear for the University of Oregon, December, 1992. It was converted to HTML format by R.S. Bear in April of 1996. The text for this edition follows that of the printed Mariott and Grismand printing of 1621, as found in the copy in the collection of the Folger Shakespeare Library.
Skating techniques of ladies' world-class long-distance speed skaters to shorten curved-section time during the official 3,000 m race
This study aimed to identify the factors contributing to expedited passage through curved sections in skating by analyzing centripetal acceleration and skating motions during curving in a 3,000 m race for ladies' world-class speed skating. It included 14 elite skaters participating in the ladies' 3,000 m race held during the World Cup. The recorded area consisted of the first inner curve lane. Skaters were recorded as they passed through the meas…
