  • Advancing athletic assessment by integrating conventional methods with cutting-edge biomedical technologies for comprehensive performance, wellness, and longevity insights

Open Access•Marios Spanakis, Persefoni Fragkiadaki et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Sports and Active…•2024•References: 1

In modern athlete assessment, the integration of conventional biochemical and ergophysiologic monitoring with innovative methods like telomere analysis, genotyping/phenotypic profiling, and metabolomics has the potential to offer a comprehensive understanding of athletes' performance and potential longevity. Telomeres provide insights into cellular functioning, aging, and adaptation and elucidate the effects of training on cellular health. Genoty…

  • The role of heavy metal exposure on the microbiome in the etiology of gastrointestinal disorders

    Open Access•Olga V Delyukina, Sergey A Savko et al.•ARTICLE•Ekologiya Cheloveka (Human Ecology•2023

In recent years, epidemiological studies have increasingly recognized the significance of heavy metals as an important pathogenetic factor in many gastrointestinal diseases, particularly those associated with in gut microbiota functions. The toxicity of heavy metals towards essential intestinal microflora goes beyond causing dysbiotic disorders; it can also exacerbate intestinal infections, alter metabolic processes, and influence the development…

  • Hair Lead, Aluminum, and Other Toxic Metals in Normal-Weight and Obese Patients with Coronary Heart Disease

Open Access•Anatoly V Skalny, Philipp Kopylov et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

The objective of the present study was to evaluate hair toxic metal levels in patients with obesity and/or coronary heart disease (CHD). Following a 2 × 2 factorial design, subjects without CHD were grouped into normal weight control ( n = 123) and obese groups ( n = 140). Patients suffering from CHD were divided into normal weight ( n = 180) and obese CHD subjects ( n = 240). Hair Al, As, Cd, Hg, Ni, and Pb levels were evaluated using inductivel…

  • Microelement Status of the Orenburg Region Population

    Open Access•E V Salnikova, Е В Сальникова et al.•ARTICLE•Ekologiya Cheloveka (Human Ecology•2019•References: 6

The aim of the paper is to study the features of the microelement status of the population of the Orenburg region and to establish the distribution limits of geographical and ecological pathology. Methods. The content of chemical elements in the hair was estimated by atomic emission and mass spectrometry using an Elan 9000 mass spectrometer and an Optima 2000 V atomic emission spectrometer in the laboratory "Center for Biotic Medicine" (Moscow). …

  • The Influence of Anthropogenous and Geochemical Environmental Factors on the Elementary Status of Children of Chelyabinsk Region

    Open Access•V Notova, Svetlana V Notova et al.•ARTICLE•Ekologiya Cheloveka (Human Ecology•2017•Cited by: 2•References: 8

The purpose of the work is to study the peculiarities of the elementary status of the children of Chelyabinsk region, living in the settlements similar in geochemical features, but various in the level of anthropogenic load and determine a major factor of mineral metabolism provision. The results of the study of hair trace elements content in 235 pupils of secondary school aged from 7 till 18 years are presented. All of them lived in the towns: V…

  • Reference Values for Chemical Elements Concentration in Hair of Adults in the Republic of Tatarstan

    Open Access•N A Agadzhanyan, Anatoly V Skalny et al.•ARTICLE•Ekologiya Cheloveka (Human Ecology•2016•Cited by: 1•References: 6

Elemental hair profile of the population is adequate hygienic indicator reflecting the impact of climatic and geographical, biogeochemical and ecological characteristics of the area on human. This indicator is also a tool for monitoring the population's health through detection and elimination the elementosis which is typical for the territory. The purpose of this study was to carry out a study of element status of adult population of the Republi…

  • Age-related differences in hair trace elements

    Open Access•Margarita G Skalnaya, Alexey A Tinkov et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•2015

Hair Cr, Mn, Ni, Si, Al, As, Be, Cd and Pb tended to decrease with age in the female sample, whereas hair Cu, Fe, I, Se, Li and Sn were characterised by an age-associated increase. Hair levels of Cr, Cu, I, Mn, Ni, Si and Al in men decreased with age, whereas hair Co, Fe, Se, Cd, Li and Pb content tended to increase. Hair mercury increased in association with age in men and in women, whereas hair vanadium was characterised by a significant decrea…

  • Regional Features of the Elemental Homeostasis as an Indicator of Ecological and Physiological Adaptation

    Open Access•Anatoly V Skalny, A Miroshnikov et al.•ARTICLE•Ekologiya Cheloveka (Human Ecology•2014

The research presents element composition of residents hair in the Orenburg region (n = 1 748) aged 8 to 65 years by methods ICP-AS and ICP-MS. Own results on the content of chemical elements in hair compared with centile intervals ( 25-75) obtained during population studies in different regions of Russia . There was a reduction of 25-75 centiles values for selenium, cobalt, chromium from 2 to 5 times in comparison with the average Russian values…
