  • Soggetti nomadi alla ricerca delle Terre promesse (2017) di Milena Agus

    Open Access•Margherita Heyer-Caput•ARTICLE•Forum Italicum A Journal of…•2021•References: 3

  • Grazia Deledda and the Transgressive Power of Writing as Poiēsis

    Margherita Heyer-Caput•ARTICLE•Modern Language Notes•2020

This article responds to Grazia Deledda’s invitation to reckon with the theoretical depth of her narrative journey. To this end, I investigate Deledda’s metanarrative reflections in some of her generally neglected short prose through the lens of Adriana Cavarero’s theory of sexual difference, while building upon recent Deledda’s reception within European Modernism (Heyer-Caput; Wood). Deledda’s intellectual self-awareness emerges as the key to un…

  • Between enlightened pragmatism and censorship resistance

    Open Access•Margherita Heyer-Caput•ARTICLE•Forum Italicum A Journal of…•2015•References: 4

A multi-faceted personality of the European Enlightenment and American Independence, Filippo Mazzei (1730–1816) retraces his wanderings between the Old and the New Worlds in his Memorie, written from 1810 to 1813. This paper argues that the apparent lack of theoretical depth and rhetorical strength of Mazzei’s Memorie represents rather the narrator’s ironic, pragmatic strategy of resistance to various forms of censorship, which he experienced in …

  • The Paradoxical Circularity of Luigi Malerba’s Narrative

    Margherita Heyer-Caput•ARTICLE•Italian Culture•2012•Cited by: 1•References: 2

The narrative journey of Luigi Malerba (1927–2008), from the Neoavanguardia experience to postmodernism, articulates a search for meaning through the interpretation of different genres. Malerba’s corpus epitomizes ‘l’ingombrante, evolutiva letteratura dell’invenzione’ through a thought-provoking, open circle that connects both his first and last collections of short stories, La scoperta dell’alfabeto (1963) and Ti saluto filosofia (2004), and his…

  • Grazia Deledda's Dance of Modernity

    Margherita Heyer-Caput•BOOK•Grazia Deledda's Dance of Modernity•2008

Grazia Deledda's Dance of Modernity is a highly original and innovative interpretation of Deledda's narrative in philosophical perspective, which also includes the study of textual variations and considers cultural history in Italy during the early twentieth century.

  • Grazia Deledda

    Margherita Heyer-Caput•ARTICLE•Italian Culture•2005

A reticent and meditative Deledda responded in 1924 to a journalist inquiring about her life: "Why talk about myself? And why is it important?Better to close the books, to speak of the snow that whitens my hair, a sign that the day is coming closer when only one book counts: the active and passive book of our life, if we have really done anything [. ..]" (180).Martha King's biography of Grazia Deledda unearths the biographical and literary paths t…
