Trends in heterosexual tertiary students' knowledge of HIV and intentions to avoid people who might have HIV
This study investigated trends in HIV knowledge and endorsement of social avoidance of people who might be infected with HIV. The respondents (n = 7387) were self-identified heterosexual students. The high demands made upon the three women by their various state governments were probably due in large part to the employers' unrealistic expectations of benefit…
Psychologising Asia or Asianising Psychology
Discussion of the role of modern psychology in the developing world has prompted commentators from both east and west to urge the establishment of a branch of psychology devoted to the examination of fundamental theoretical issues. Such a discussion should both inform and be informed by an historical analysis of the spread of western psychology in Asian countries. The historiography of psychology, itself a rapidly expanding field in the west, wou…

A self‐report questionnaire, tapping a variety of areas of health‐related behaviours, was administered individually to a hundred young men and women aged between 15 and 24 years, solicited outside the Commonwealth Employment Service Office in Liverpool, New South Wales, in August 1980, all of whom described themselves as having been continuously unemployed for at least four weeks up to the time of interview. The group was divided at its approxima…
