Greco-Roman writers predominantly used waxed tablets and bookrolls, although codices emerged in the first century CE. Two centuries later, Victor of Capua produced Codex Fuldensis, a Vulgate New Testament replacing the separate Gospels with a harmony and the Eusebian apparatus.
