  • Investigation of the “Blue Seven Phenomenon” in Elementary and Junior High School Children

    533 elementary and junior high school children were requested to write down a number between 0 and 9 and the name of a color. The number 7 and the color blue were by far the most frequently written ( p < .001 in both cases).     150 stamped and 150 unstamped letters were “lost.” Three different addresses, designed to indicate different degrees of apparent importance, were used. The return rate for stamped letters was significantly higher than the return rate for unstamped letters. The apparent importance of the letter did not have a significant effect upon return rate

  • Helping Behavior in the Absence of Visual Contact as a Function of Sex of Person Asking for Help and Sex of Person Being Asked for Help
