In November 2020, an alert for a “mysterious disease” among fishermen was issued. Fishermen are particularly subjected to dermatoses due to their constant contact with seawater, fish, crustaceans, and fishing equipment that may contain harmful agents. The study aimed to examine the alert, identify the causative agent and suggest preventive and control measures. This was a cross-sectional study of dermatoses in Dakar (Senegal) from October 11 to N…

Isocrates is generally known for having been a teacher of eloquence who learned from the masters of the first sophistics, especially from the old Sicilian Gorgias. Nevertheless, having evolved in an intellectual environment strongly dominated by rivalries between schools and positioning quarrels, the Athenian speaker, although he likes to define himself as a wise and calm man, has built a reputation that required conflict with some intellectuals …
Re-Emergence of Dengue Serotype 3 in the Context of a Large Religious Gathering Event in Touba, Senegal
Dengue virus (DENV) was detected in Senegal in 1979 for the first time. Since 2017, unprecedented frequent outbreaks of DENV were noticed yearly. In this context, epidemiological and molecular evolution data are paramount to decipher the virus diffusion route. In the current study, we focused on a dengue outbreak which occurred in Senegal in 2018 in the context of a large religious gathering with 263 confirmed DENV cases out of 832 collected samp…
L’éléatisme négatif de Zénon d’Élée
Parmenides, father of philosophy from a thematic point of view for having inaugurated the reflection on being, is, in the repertoire of ancient philosophical systems, presented as an absolute monist, which will earn him, moreover, the remonstrances of one of his most illustrious admirers, Plato, who holds him to be the father of right philosophy. Indeed, in the system of Parmenides, his ontology, the existence of being is increased so that no oth…
