Turfan
Despite its linguistic and physical distance from the Mesopotamian heartland, the Church of the East maintained its spiritual and theological heritage amongst its Iranian-speaking communities at Turfan. In 2005, the Minaret of Jām Archaeological Project team documented five tombstones with inscriptions in Hebrew script at Jām in central Afghanistan. Three of these inscriptions have never been recorded before, and they bring the total number of tombstones with inscriptions in Hebrew script found at the site to seventy-four. The tombstones indicate that there was a sizable Jewish population present at the summer capital of the Ghūrid dynasty, but …

Five tombstones with Judaeo-Persian inscriptions emerged during the season of the Minaret of Jām Archaeological Project that was conducted at Jām, Afghanistan during 2005. The collection includes three new inscriptions (Inscriptions 1, 3 and 4) as well as two previously published inscriptions (Inscriptions 2 and 5). Three are dated to the mid-twelfth century. The Dyadic Imaginary
In this paper, we offer a new theoretical framework for studying love and intimacy in the social sciences. We show that relationships which are not dyadic are often rendered invisible in scholarly accounts of love and intimacy. After reviewing the literature, we apply our new theoretical and methodological framework–the dyadic imaginary–to a case study: same-sex marriage and its relationship to bisexual and queer identities. Is Mom Still Doing It All? Reexamining Depictions of Family Work in Popular Advertising
This study examines a sample of 299 advertisements from 4 of the top 10 circulated magazines of 2005 to see how contemporary advertising depicts household labor. Modeling after previous studies that examined the depiction of gender in family advertising, this study seeks to determine whether advertising reflects the changes in families that have occurred in contemporary American culture. the British Museum purchased eight incantation bowls from Col. During a survey of the Djebel Khaled area, in conjunction with the excavation of the nearby Bronze Age site of El Qitar, Professor Graeme Clarke discovered two Syriac inscriptions on the wall of a small, vaulted tomb- chamber. Tracings were made and these, together with photographs of both the inscriptions and the sepulchre, were sent to me so that I might translate their contents and offer accompanying comments.
