  • Disparities in deworming coverage between children with and without disabilities

Open Access•Shanquan Chen, Rohan Michael Ramesh et al.•ARTICLE•BMJ Global Health•2026

BACKGROUND: Children with disabilities experience lower school enrolment rates and may be systematically excluded from school-based deworming programmes. The DeWorm3 trial provided an opportunity to evaluate whether community-wide mass drug administration (cMDA) could reduce these disparities by reaching children outside the education system. METHODS: We conducted a secondary analysis of the data from the DeWorm3 trial in Tamil Nadu, India. Child…

In Tamil Nadu, India, community drug distributors (CDDs) worked with DeWorm3 field staff to counsel community members and deliver door-to-door deworming treatment. As CDDs were likely to influence successful delivery …

  • Development and application of an electronic treatment register

    Open Access•William E Oswald, David S Kennedy et al.•ARTICLE•Global Health Action•2020

We developed an electronic treatment register for the DeWorm3 Project, a cluster-randomised, controlled trial in Benin, India, and Malawi testing the feasibility of interrupting transmission of soil-transmitted helminths through community-wide mass drug administration. The electronic treatment register was designed in xlsform, deployed via the SurveyCTO mobile data collection platform, and implemented on smartphones running the Android operating …

  • Comparison of fieldworker interview and a pictorial diary method for recording morbidity of infants in semi-urban slums

Open Access•Rahul J Thomas, Karthikeyan Ramanujam et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2015

Diary recording was incomplete in the majority of households. When recorded, the morbidity data by the pictorial diary method for acute illnesses were reliable. Strategies are needed to address behavioural factors affecting maternal recording such that field studies can obtain accurate morbidity measurements with limited resources
