    CBS 14079 (see photographs on plates I, II, III and IV) is one of the best preserved and most carefully written Sumerian proverb tablets as yet found. It was excavated at Nippur between 1889 and 1900 by the Babylonian Expedition of the University of Penslylvania. The tablet now measures 9.0 X 13.7 cm., but was originally about 9.0 X 21.0 cm. in size. It consists of a single column of text on the preserved 22 lines of its obverse, the 24 lines of …
