  • “I Put a Lot of Emphasis on Work Because I Want to Keep My Job”

Open Access•Viveka Guzman, Chiara Di Gravio et al.•ARTICLE•Health Expectations•2025

BACKGROUND: Long Covid is a complex condition characterised by persistent multisystemic symptoms following a Covid-19 infection, which can influence an individual's capability to sustain employment. However, there is limited evidence of how diverse presentations of long Covid can shape employment and what support strategies might be useful for different groups. AIM: To address this, we aimed to explore the experiences of employment changes among …

  • Challenges of Inclusion

    Open Access•Emily Cooper, Emily H Cooper et al.•ARTICLE•Health Expectations•2025

INTRODUCTION: People with long Covid report a wide range of symptoms and inconsistent responses when seeking clinical diagnosis and support. Much of the qualitative research on long Covid has been based on people attending specialist clinical services or who have accessed support groups. We aimed to understand the varied experiences of persistent symptoms following Covid-19 and the impact on the lives of people affected. METHODS: Qualitative inte…

  • Design and Implementation of a National Program to Monitor the Prevalence of Sars-CoV-2 IgG Antibodies in England Using Self-Testing

Open Access•H Ward, Christina Atchison et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2023•References: 15

Data System. The UK Department of Health and Social Care funded the REal-time Assessment of Community Transmission-2 (REACT-2) study to estimate community prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 IgG (immunoglobulin G) antibodies in England. Data Collection/Processing. We obtained random cross-sectional samples of adults from the National Health Service (NHS) patient list (near-universal coverage). We sent participants a lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) self-test…

  • Design and Implementation of a National Sars-CoV-2 Monitoring Program in England

Data System. The REal-time Assessment of Community Transmission-1 (REACT-1) Study was funded by the Department of Health and Social Care in England to provide reliable and timely estimates of prevalence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection over time, by person and place. Data Collection/Processing. The study team (researchers from Imperial College London and its logistics partner Ipsos) wrote to named individu…

  • Mapping for Engagement

Open Access•Giang Nguyen Quoc, My Nguyen Le Thao et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

BACKGROUND: Approximately 1. 07 million people in Vietnam are infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV). To address this epidemic, the South East Asian Research Collaborative in Hepatitis (SEARCH) launched a 600-patient cohort study and two clinical trials, both investigating shortened treatment strategies for chronic HCV infection with direct-acting antiviral drugs. We conducted ethnographic research with a subset of trial participants and found tha…

  • HIV testing uptake and acceptability in an inner city polyclinic

    J Ashby, B Braithewaite et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2012

Up to 33% of HIV-infected adults in the UK remain undiagnosed and efforts to increase HIV testing are underway. HIV testing was conducted amongst individuals presenting to a polyclinic at a central London hospital using a point of care test. Demographic and HIV risk data was collected along with a patient feedback questionnaire exploring acceptability of the HIV testing experience. Seventy-one out of 93 (76%) individuals accepted HIV testing. Of …

  • Population uptake of antiretroviral treatment through primary care in rural South Africa

Open Access•Graham S Cooke, Graham Cooke et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2010

Despite concerns about the equitable nature of antiretroviral treatment rollout, we find very few differences in ART uptake across a range of socio-demographic variables in a rural South African population. However, even when socio-demographic factors were taken into account, individuals living further away from primary healthcare clinics were still significantly less likely to be accessing ART
