  • Development of a Predictive Model for Cardiac Dysfunction in MIS-C Patients Utilizing Laboratory Biomarkers

Open Access•Güliz Erdem, Brendan Galdo et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2026

This model identified widely available biomarkers to successfully predict systolic dysfunction in MIS-C patients. Those at high risk of systolic dysfunction had higher peak laboratory values for C-reactive protein, fibrinogen, and procalcitonin early on. A regularized logistic regression model was validated to provide excellent discrimination for LVSD

  • Subregular linguistics

    Open Access•Tim Graf, Thomas Graf•ARTICLE•Theoretical Linguistics•2022

Subregular linguistics is a fairly new approach that seeks a deeper understanding of language by combining the rigor of formal grammar with the empirical sophistication of theoretical linguistics. The approach started in phonology but has since branched out to morphology and even syntax, unearthing unexpected parallels between these three domains of language. In this paper, I argue based on these results that subregular linguistics has a lot to o…

  • Cyclic scope and processing difficulty in a Minimalist parser

Open Access•Robert Pasternak, Tim Graf et al.•ARTICLE•Glossa a journal of general…•2021

A common view in the theoretical literature is that quantifier raising (QR) is a clause-bounded operation. But in a paper published in Glossa, Wurmbrand (2018) argues that (i) QR is not clause-bounded, and the apparent clause-boundedness of QR is due to the human parser’s difficulty in processing extraclausal QR; and (ii) the relative difficulty of extraclausal QR depends on the size of the embedded clause from which QR takes place. She then prop…

  • The power of locality domains in phonology

    Open Access•Tim Graf, Thomas Graf•ARTICLE•Phonology•2017

Domains play an integral role in linguistic theories. This paper combines locality domains with current models of the computational complexity of phonology. The first result is that if a specific formalism – strictly piecewise grammars – is supplemented with a mechanism to enforce first-order definable domain restrictions, its power increases so much that it subsumes almost the full hierarchy of subregular languages. However, if domain restrictio…
