A Probability Model for the Effects of Distance on the Demand for Multiple Facilities
Probability models are developed for assessing the probable effects of distance on the demand for one and several facilities. A solution of these models leads to binomial approximate Poisson, super-Poisson, and mixed distributions
Accounting for the Probable Spatial Impact of Local Activities
This paper establishes a probabilistic approach to assessing the spatial impact of a local activity. Three environmental impact probability effects are distinguished; (1) the effect associated with the facility only, for example size, (2) interaction effects of distance, and (3) the effects of a given environmental state on the population. A combination of these provides a quantitative framework for characterizing probabilistically the environmen…
Structural inference in organizations
This paper considers the statistical inference of structural properties in organizations. Specifically, the sampling probability distributions of the number of links and the cumulative distribution of the number of components are determined. Probability estimates of both the number of links and the number of components are then found
Structural Inference in Transportation Networks
Using elements of both statistical inference and graph theory, this paper demonstrates how some properties of a complete network can be inferred by observing parts of it. The approach is considered especially beneficial when cost, time, or other constraints prohibit the collection of complete information on the network under consideration
