How Norms Depend on the Presence and Status of Observers
Norms are fundamental to social life, but basic questions about how they are affected by social context remain. Specifically, how do normative constraints depend on the presence and status of observers, and how do such relational contingencies vary across cultures? Using data from more than 25,000 individuals across 90 societies, we test several hypotheses linking normative constraints on everyday behaviors (like arguing, laughing, cursing, kissi…
Differential temporal dynamics in motor imagery shaped by agent type and action duration
This study explored the temporal dynamics of motor imagery (MI) following the observation of robotic versus human actions using a temporal judgment task. Participants observed goal-directed action videos by a human or a NAO robot, performed MI until an auditory stop signal, then completed a two-alternative forced choice task to identify the frame corresponding to their imagery stop point, choosing between the correct frame and either a preceding …
Growing up with tic disorders
These findings highlight the need for improved access to specialized care, greater healthcare professional awareness, and enhanced support for individuals with TS/TD and their families, especially for early diagnosis and effective cognitive behavioral treatments
Navigating child and adolescent mental health in the digital age

While the exact relationship between SM use and psychiatric health remains unclear, growing evidence suggests that excessive screen time is linked to psychosocial symptoms. This article examines the importance of systematically assessing SM use as part of a comprehensive psychiatri…
School Absenteeism Longer Than Two Weeks Is a Red Flag of Somatic Symptom and Related Disorders in Hospitalised Children and Adolescents
Chronic school absenteeism is a common problem in childhood and adolescence, and it is frequently observed in patients with somatic symptom and related disorders (SSRDs). This study aimed to determine whether and to what extent the presence of school absenteeism may be a risk factor for the diagnosis of SSRDs in hospitalised patients. This matched cohort study included children and adolescents aged between 8 and 17 years, admitted to the paediatr…
Rischio sovra-istruzione
