Development and early reach of a podcast-based innovation to support medical residents' personal and professional development
Despite the use of structured competency frameworks and supporting educational tools, medical residents often continue to struggle with personalising their learning, managing feedback, and balancing professional demands with personal well-being. These persistent challenges suggest that conventional support systems may not fully address the nuanced needs of residents, contributing to feelings of disconnection and stress during training. The Reside…
Screen time and cardiometabolic function in Dutch 5–6 year olds
We found no convincing evidence for an association between TV or PC time and cardiometabolic function in apparently healthy 5-6 yr olds
Socioeconomic inequalities in lipid and glucose metabolism in early childhood in a population-based cohort
The socioeconomic gradient in cardiovascular risk factors seems to emerge in early childhood. In absence of underlying mechanisms these empirical findings are relevant for public health care and further explanatory research
Health-related quality of life and utility scores in short-term survivors of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Although 61 % of short-term survivors of ALL report no impairment, the health status of the other patients lead to a clinically important impaired HRQL compared to norms. Prospective studies assessing utility scores associated with pediatric ALL should be performed, enabling valid and reliable cost-utility analyses for policy makers to make informed decisions
Overweight at age two years in a multi-ethnic cohort (ABCD study)
Turkish and Moroccan children in the Netherlands have 2- to 3-fold higher odds for being overweight at age 2 years, which is largely attributed to maternal pre-pregnancy BMI and weight gain during the first 6 months of life. Further study on the underlying factors of this early weight gain is required to tackle ethnic differences in overweight among these children
Fatigue in children
The Dutch version of the PedsQLTM Multidimensional Fatigue Scale demonstrates an adequate feasibility, reliability, and validity in another sociocultural context. With the obtained norm-references, it can be utilized as a tool in the evaluation of fatigue in healthy and chronically ill children aged 2-18 years
Cardio-metabolic risk in 5-year-old children prenatally exposed to maternal psychosocial stress
Main strengths of the proposed study are the longitudinal measurements during three important periods (pregnancy, infancy and childhood), the extensive measurement of maternal psychosocial stress with validated questionnaires and the thorough measurement of the children's cardio-metabolic profile. The availability of several confounding factors will give us the opportunity to quantify the independent contribution of maternal stress during pregnan…
