Benchmarking attention mechanisms and consistency regularization semi-supervised learning for post-flood building damage assessment
Rapid and accurate building damage assessment (BDA) following floods is critical for effective disaster response, yet faces challenges from limited labeled data and subtle damage cues in satellite imagery. Existing deep learning change detection (CD) methods may exhibit low recall or misclassify damage inappropriately when transferred directly to the post-flood BDA (Flood-BDA) task. This study addresses these gaps by establishing the first system…
Prevalence of diagnosed mental health conditions among US children with public and commercial insurance
Variations in prevalence differed widely across states and by communities' rurality-urbanity. Medicaid-insured children had consistently higher prevalence than commercially insured children throughout all states. Suburban communities demonstrated the highest prevalence rates for both insurance types, with geographic clustering of high-prevalence areas observed particularly in eastern states for Medicaid-insured children and primarily in urban are…
Dental care access for children in the United States
This study found that dental care access was lower for children with public insurance than those with private access across all states, although states responded differently to changes in Medicaid/CHIP participation. Increasing access for children with public insurance would reduce disparities, but overall children's access to dental care would be better improved by expanding the oral health workforce
A university-clustered tuberculosis outbreak during the Covid-19 pandemic in eastern China
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, a tuberculosis outbreak occurred in a university in eastern China, with 4,488 students and 421 staff on the campus. A 19-year-old student was diagnosed in August 2019. Later, the first round of screening was initiated among close contacts, but no active cases were found. Till September 2020, four rounds of screening were performed. Four rounds of screening were conducted on September 9, November 8, November 2…
Impact of risk factors, activities and psychological disorders on the health of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in China
COPD severity was significantly correlated with behavior (especially regarding smoking and cooking with biofuel in confined spaces), physical strength, daily living activities, social activities, anxiety and depression. Comprehensive approaches are required for the prevention and treatment of COPD
Vulnerability, beliefs, treatments and economic burden of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in rural areas in China
The vulnerability of patients in rural Xuzhou to COPD was high. Their awareness of COPD was poor, their treatment during both the stable and acute exacerbation stages did not meet standards, and the economic burdens were large. Interventions are therefore needed to improve the prevention and management of COPD in this population. Further studies are required to verify these findings
