Personality Characteristics of Martial Artists
This study used the MMPI-2 to explore the personalities of yellow-belt and black-belt martial artists. A total of 40 participants completed the MMPI-2 and a demographic questionnaire. Black-belt females tended to be less defensive than were other martial artists, but also displayed more paranoia and more anger than average. Females of both ranks reported a higher degree of anxiety and health concerns than did males in the study, and black-belt fe…

Early Memories and Maladjustment
Earliest memories were elicited from 60 undergraduates, who also completed the Rotter Incomplete Sentences Blank, Symptom Checklist-90-Revised, Wahler Physical Symptoms Inventory, and Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirability Scale. Early memories were scored for the three factors identified by Caruso and Spirrison (Emotional Poise, Activity, and Dependability). These scores were not significantly associated with indices of maladjustment or the social d…

The Original vs an Abbreviated Version of the Treatment Evaluation Inventory: Systematic Measurement Error
The Treatment Evaluation Inventory was used by 164 undergraduates to rate the acceptability of each of six treatments. The differences between the (scale-corrected) total score and the total of items representing the short form were analyzed. Analysis suggested that the short form, as compared to the original scale, systematically underestimates the acceptability of overcorrection and overestimates the acceptability of differential reinforcement …
The Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire—Form E: Experimental Norms for Mentally Retarded Adults
Form E of the Sixteen Personality Factors Questionnaire (16 PF-E) was administered to 286 adults (168 men, 118 women) who resided in public facilities for the mentally retarded. Based on each subject's 16 primary-trait raw scores, standard sten scores were established for the subject population. Experimental norms for the 16 PF-E responses of mentally retarded adults are presented
