A Multidisciplinary Approach to an Individual with Severe Ritualistic Behaviors
A man with severe ritualistic behavior was cured through the use of a multidisciplinary approach. Medication for depression and anxiety, cognitive restructuring, thought stopping, response prevention, biofeedback, family therapy, activity therapy, and psychoeducational techniques were all used as treatment interventions
Use of Directive Therapy in the Treatment of Depersonalization Neurosis
The successful elimination of depersonalization neurosis through the use of directive therapy was accomplished after other therapeutic techniques had failed. The following case study describes this philosophy and some of the techniques used
Self-Monitoring in the Treatment of an Acute Mania
A behavioral self-monitoring program was successfuly utilized to treat continuing manic episodes in a 47-yr.-old male. Although lithium carbonate was effective in reducing the severity of the attacks, two episodes occurred weekly before the behavioral self-monitoring program was initiated. After training, the patient was able successfully to monitor his thoughts and keep from engaging in hypomanic behavior
