Paul Davidson has argued that there is little common ground between Post Keynesian analysis and the Austrian approach to economics. He claims that Post Keynesians (unlike Austrian economists) place great importance on the role of expectations and do not present a deterministic view of the economic system. The dual role of user cost in the derivation of Keynes's aggregate supply function ∗
A distinction is made between Keyne's employment of user cost at the micro- and macrolevels. Keynes includes user cost when establishing the profit maximizing position of an individual firm, and excludes it when examining events at the macrolevel.
