Cycles-specific benefits of smart transport for sustainable investing: Global and regional perspectives with different ethical paradigms
Physician human capital, healthcare accessibility, and mismatch of healthcare resources
China's multilevel medical education system generates tremendous physician human capital heterogeneity. This paper attempts to take advantage of the differences level of doctors' human capital to reveal the relationship between healthcare service mismatch and doctors' human capital using the DRGs data of a province in China. This paper found that: first, a higher level of physician human capital (PHC) in hospitals significantly increases the mism…
Research on credit pricing mechanism in dual-credit policy: Is the government in charge or is the market in charge
The impacts of Covid-19 on China insurance industry—An empirical analysis based on event study
Introduction: At the end of 2019, the sudden outbreak of COVID-19 pneumonia has developed from a mass health event to a global epidemic disaster. Its impact extends from human health to social, economic, political, international relations and global governance. In the process of fighting against the epidemic in China, almost all economic sectors were affected, and the insurance industry with epidemic sensitive characteristics was particularly aff…
Subsidy for clean innovation considered technological spillover
Effects of carbon tax on environment under duopoly
Advertising investment under switching costs
Switching costs are exceedingly important in service industries including platform firms and IT firms, and, have a strong effect on firms’ advertising investments and market structure. This study examines the effects of switching costs on advertising using a two-stage discrete-time dynamic duopoly model. Firstly, we argue that switching costs reduce firms’ advertising investments. Secondly, both brand stealing effects and brand expansion effects …
Analysis of cooperative technological innovation strategy
This article focuses on the cooperative innovation under oligopoly with game theory approach. The effects of cooperative innovation are addressed. First, we argue that the total innovation investment of cooperators is more than that of an individual firm without cooperation. Second, the number of cooperative partners has different effects on firms’ innovative investment. Cooperative innovation investment decreases in both the number of cooperator…
Emission regulation of conventional energy-intensive industries
Cooperation of firms yielding industrial clusters
Industrial clusters, exceedingly popular all over the world, play a significant role in economics, and it is very important to further capture them. This paper addresses the formation of industrial clusters with evolutionary game theory techniques. According to evolutionary game theory techniques, cooperation conditions for two firms in two different industries are characterised. Actually, if the evolutionary stable strategy (ESS) is the corporat…
Effects of celebrity endorsement on firms’ competition: From industrial organisation perspective
Product endorsement is employed by many firms and most studies have proceeded based on management perspectives and ignored the strategic effects (or indirect effects). However, as a non-price competition, product endorsement behaviour’s strategic effects are valuable to be considered and convenient to be captured by industrial organisation perspective. So, this paper’s purpose is to reveal the strategic effects of product endorsement by industria…
Effects of asymmetric medical insurance subsidy on hospitals competition under non-price regulation
This paper states that subsidy is a two-edged sword. On one hand, subsidy stimulates medical demand. On the other hand, subsidy raises price and inhibits hospital competition. Therefore, government must set an appropriate subsidy ratio difference between large and small hospitals to maximize the total social welfare. For a developing country with limited medical resources and great difference in hospitals such as China, adjusting the reimbursemen…
R&D subsidies under asymmetric Cournot competition
With a three-stage game model, this article theoretically assesses the effectiveness of different research and development subsidy strategies under asymmetric duopoly. The findings indicate that subsidising the small firm instead of the large is the optimum for the maximisation of social welfare in general. Meanwhile, if the initial marginal costs of the two firms are close to each other, providing subsidies to the small firm leads to more social…
Analysis of innovation based on financial structure
This paper examines the interaction between innovation and financial structure under monopoly. We characterise the effects of debt levels on innovative investment by considering a limited liability effect. On one hand, higher debt levels promote both innovative investment and the outputs. On the other hand, shareholders’ net benefits are reduced by higher debt levels and net profit per debt is correspondingly reduced by higher debt level under po…

A Dynamic Study on Ecological Disaster, Government Regulation, and Renewable Resources
This article develops a dynamic model to investigate renewable resource markets under different property rights. We find that different property rights regimes in renewable resource markets yield very different equilibria. Under private property rights, the valve point increases with the natural growth rate, productivity, number of firms, and marginal costs. Under common property rights, "the tragedy of the commons" inescapably occurs. This study…
