  • Managerial Nationalism and Firm Innovation

Open Access•Z Yang, Shulin Xu et al.•ARTICLE•Canadian Journal of Administrative…•2026

Although nationalism is traditionally studied by political scientists, previous studies focus solely on the outcomes of nationalism, neglecting the theoretical mechanisms by which managerial nationalism shapes firm behaviour and leaving key gaps unaddressed. We highlight its importance to management scholars by exploring how the national sentiment of decision makers can influence their strategic decisions. We textually analyse management's discus…

  • Accelerated Depreciation Policies and Corporate Vertical Integration

Open Access•Xin Wu, Z Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Canadian Journal of Administrative…•2026

We investigated the effects of accelerated depreciation policies on corporate vertical integration by analyzing data from 2007 to 2022 on Chinese listed companies, while also accounting for the 2014 reform as an exogenous policy shock within a multi‐period difference‐in‐differences framework. Evidently, accelerated depreciation policies significantly promote vertical integration by easing financing constraints, increasing fixed‐asset investment a…

  • Higher Order Local Search Assisted Community Detection in Signed Networks

Open Access•Jing Xiao, Zi-Zheng Dang et al.•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Computational…•2025

Community detection in signed networks reveals mesoscale structures and sign characteristics, facilitating accurate and realistic understanding of real-life signed networks. Given the complexity of signed community structures and the NP-hard challenge of achieving optimal partitions, modularity optimization using memetic algorithms has emerged as a promising approach. However, the identified signed partitions still face challenges in modularity q…

  • R&D Deduction Policy and Corporate Industry Chain Linkage

    Open Access•Tingting Wu, Z Yang et al.•ARTICLE•SAGE Open•2025

This study examines whether and how the research and development (R&D) tax deduction policies affect corporate industrial chain linkages. Using data from Chinese A-share listed companies covering 2007 to 2022, empirical research was conducted using the difference-in-differences (DID) method. The results indicate that the R&D tax deduction policy positively impacts corporate industrial chain linkages. Mechanism tests show that the policy promotes …

  • Early‐Life Famine Experience and Households’ Diversity of Financial Asset Portfolio

    Open Access•Shulin Xu, Z Yang•ARTICLE•Social Science Quarterly•2025•References: 46

Objective Based on imprinting theory, this study investigates the impact of famine experience on household portfolio diversification, focusing on the three core elements of imprint formation: sensitive period, environmental imprint, and lasting impact. Method Using data from the 2013–2019 China Household Finance Survey, we examine how early‐life famine experience affects household investment choices by applying ordinary least squares (OLS) and or…

  • Firm leverage and labour share

    Open Access•Wenlong Liu, Z Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Economic Research-Ekonomska…•2023

We examine the relationship between firm leverage and firm-level labour shares by using the panel threshold effect model. Based on the sample of Chinese firms listed in the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SHSE) and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE) from 2010 to 2019, we find that leverage has a significant threshold effect on the labour share of firms, and on average, firm leverage is positively associated with the labour share when the debt per labour…

  • Board Diversity and Corporate Investment Decisions

    Open Access•Farman Ali, Muhammad Ullah et al.•ARTICLE•SAGE Open•2022•References: 85

We investigate the relation between board diversity and corporate investment decisions. We select four diversity attributes namely, gender, age, tenure, and education diversity to find its impact of corporate investment. Further, we classify these four diversity attributes into surface-level and deep-level diversity to check its impact on investment. Analyzing Chinese non-financial firms over the period of 2003 to 2017, we employ fixed effect reg…

  • The Origins of Slip for High‐Fired Chinese Ceramics

Open Access•Xueqi Zhou, Hanglong Lv et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2021

For Chinese high‐fired glazed ceramics, a slip can improve the quality of products in many ways; however, when and how the artisans started applying a slip before glazing is still relatively unknown. Some Han dynasty Jiangdong‐type calcium glazed wares were unearthed from two tomb groups in Zhejiang. The results show that under the calcium glaze layer, there is another slip coating, which contains high levels of iron and potassium. The underglaze…

  • Molecular mechanisms of Polyphyllin I-induced apoptosis and reversal of the epithelial–mesenchymal transition in human osteosarcoma cells

Open Access•Junli Chang, Hongshen Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2015

  • Longevity and Health Care Expenditures

Z Yang, Yang Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•The Journals of Gerontology…•2003•Cited by: 20

Both increases in the absolute number of elderly persons and in their longevity will increase future Medicare expenditures. Yet, the expected increase in per person health care expenditures caused by greater longevity of Medicare beneficiaries will be less than expected because of the concentration of expenditures at the end of life rather than during extra years of a relatively healthy life. The latter conclusion may be altered, however, because…
