Antisocial Attitudes and Consumer Satisfaction With Substance Abuse Treatment Program
Lower levels of self reported satisfaction with addiction treatment in a sample of 59 addicts at the end of a four week inpatient addiction treatment program were significantly correlated with scores on the Psychopathic Deviate (Pd) and Responsibility Scale (Re) of the MMP12: more rebellious and less socially responsible patients reported less satisfaction with the treatment program (r<.30, p<.05, 1–tailed). Suicide With the Motive “To Die” or “Not to Die” and Its Socioanamnestic Correlates
Ninety-six British patients retrospectively rated the intent underlying their recent suicide attempt: 36.5% indicated the intent was “to die”, 17.7% “not to die”, and 45.8% “did not mind”. These three groups did not differ with respect to a variety of socioanamnestic variables except the following: those wishing “to die” more frequently left a suicide letter than those who “did not mind”. The ratings of the patient's suicide intent (along the sam…

The same data were obt…

Attitudes of Male Alcoholics Towards Equal Freedom for Women
Responses of 86 chronic alcoholic males to item 101 of the MMPI were examined. This item reads, “I believe women ought to have as much sexual freedom as men.” The proportion of responses with “False” (14% of the sample) was similar to recent normative MMPI data on normal US Midwest males (15.1%). Alcoholics who responded with “True” did not differ from the others with respect to age, education, scope of vocabulary, average MMPI profile elevation,…
