  • Work stress and emotional disorders in community workers

Open Access•Ping Shen, Ran Song et al.•ARTICLE•Social Behavior and Personality…•2026

This study investigated the relationship between work stress and emotional disorders among community workers, with particular emphasis on the mediating roles of life stress and physiological stress. We conducted a paper-based questionnaire with 1,834 community workers in China. Our findings indicated that work stress was a significant predictor of emotional disorders, with life stress and physiological stress mediating this relationship. Specific…

  • Enso-driven extreme heat propagation

Open Access•Xinlong Zhang, Weiping Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2025

The El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) modulates global heatwave propagation through teleconnections, yet its phase-dependent control over spatiotemporal connectivity remains unclear. Here we develop a multi-scale climate network framework integrating geographic thresholds (2500 km) and directional event synchronization to quantify ENSO’s dual regulation of short- and long-range heatwave linkages across the Pacific–Indian Ocean domain. Analyses …

  • Facilitating teachers’ professional learning in open class

Open Access•Jinxiu Wu, Ping Shen•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2024

Open class is a public-oriented pedagogical practice aimed at enhancing teachers’ professional learning in China. This study examines how teachers conduct the open class and explores how open class facilitates the professional development of teachers. Through fieldwork at Sailing School and semi-structured interviews with nineteen teachers, four distinct phases of participation were identified: beginning (preparation for a show), presentation (us…

  • A Study on the Spatial Pattern of the Ecological Product Value of China’s County-Level Regions Based on GEP Evaluation

Open Access•Ping Shen, Shen Ping et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

Gross Ecosystem Product (GEP) is a concept that reflects ecological product value by using geospatial technology. It can demonstrate the spatial distribution of ecological products and provide new perspectives and refined support for spatial planning. China's county-level regions are important units for the promotion of ecological product value. Based on the concept of GEP, this study evaluated the ecological product value of China's county-level…

  • Reduced antibody response to Covid-19 vaccine composed of inactivated Sars-CoV-2 in diabetic individuals

Open Access•Yandong Cheng, Ping Shen et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

Background Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are at increased risk for COVID-19 related morbidity and mortality. Antibody response to COVID-19 vaccine in T2DM patients is not very clear. The present work aims to evaluate the antibody response to the inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine in this population. Methods Two groups of subjects with no history of SARS-CoV-2 infection were included: 63 T2DM patients and 56 non-T2DM controls. Each par…

  • Pedestrian danger assessment under rainstorm-induced flood disaster for an artificial island

Open Access•Yan Li, Wan-Huan Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Disaster…•2022

  • Household Transmission of Community-Associated Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus

Open Access•Feiteng Zhu, Hemu Zhuang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2021

Currently, the mechanism of community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) transmission mechanism is unclear; however, it must be considered in conjunction with asymptomatic S. aureus strains colonization dynamics. This epidemiological study aimed to determine the role of the household in CA-MRSA transmission in China. Five patients with culture-confirmed CA-MRSA infection and five control patients were recruited from …
