Assessing the reliability of non-cycloplegic refraction in children
Background Traditional cycloplegic refraction is the gold standard for pediatric vision screening but is often limited by low efficiency and poor compliance. This study aimed to develop a machine learning model using non-cycloplegic visual function and refractive parameters to evaluate the reliability of non-cycloplegic refraction in children and adolescents. The model aims to identify individuals at risk of significant refractive error deviation…
Test of the relationship between adolescents’ 24-h activity behavior and anxiety symptoms using compositional data analysis
MVPA is a key factor in alleviating anxiety symptoms, but it is essential to consider adolescents' 24-h activity behaviors holistically. The primary goal should be to maintain existing levels of MVPA while reasonably promoting the replacement of SB with MVPA, thereby enhancing adolescents' physical and mental health
The effect of red on time perception
Contextual modulation of the red-attractiveness effect
Color is not just about aesthetics but also communicates specific information and has important implications for psychological functioning. It has been shown that the color red enhances perceived attractiveness when evaluating the opposite sex, which we call the red-attractiveness effect. However, few studies have attached importance to the social context in which attractiveness ratings are made, which means that the red-attractiveness effect is …
Development and students’ evaluation of a blended online and offline pedagogy for physical education theory curriculum in China during the Covid-19 pandemic
Differential Effects of Optimism and Pessimism on Adolescents’ Subjective Well-Being
Prior research has found the differential strength of optimism and pessimism in predicting physical health. However, whether similar findings would be obtained in predicting subjective well-being and the possible underlying mechanisms are still unclear. This study examined the relative strength of optimism and pessimism in predicting adolescent life satisfaction and depression, and further explored the possible mediating mechanisms from the persp…
Individual differences in implicit associations between red and green colors and failure and success among Chinese adults
We tested if the association of the color red with negative meaning and failure varies according to social context and life experience. A Stroop word evaluation task was used to investigate the link between the colors red and green, and failure and success among 3 groups of Chinese people, comprising college students, shareholders, and adults in the general population. Results show that whereas college students reacted faster to red–failure and g…
The effect of tennis expertise on motion-in-deep perception
