Trajectory of gestational weight gain is related to birthweight
Few studies have reported the timing and amount of gestational weight gain (GWG) to prevent large-for-gestational-age (LGA) or small-for-gestational-age (SGA). This study aimed to evaluate the association of GWG velocity in each trimester with LGA or SGA based on data from the Taicang and Wuqiang cohort study (TAWS, n = 2008). We used a linear mixed model to evaluate the association of trimester-specific GWG velocity with birthweight categories a…
Prevention of the social isolation of older persons
Background To explore how to prevent the social isolation of the older adult, this study constructed a model of the influence of community environmental satisfaction on the social isolation of the older adult from the three dimensions of environmental facilities, transportation, and supporting facilities around the community. Methods: The social network scale and environmental satisfaction scale were used to collect the sample data of nine commun…
Population data and phylogenetic analysis of 37 Y-STR loci in the Hui population from Yunnan Province, Southwest China
The population comparison indicated that Muslim populations (Hui, Salar and Uighur) showed significantly more genetic affinity than other populations. Our results could be applied in forensic practice and population genetic studies
What are the determinants of low exclusive breastfeeding prevalence in China? A cross‐sectional study
Exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) status is far from the national target in China. To identify the modifiable factors associated with EBF of infants aged under 6 months in China. A cross-sectional study was conducted in 12 provinces/municipalities across China in 2017-2018. We used multistage stratified cluster sampling and collected data through face-to-face interviews with mothers using an electronic questionnaire. Totally, 5287 pairs of mother-inf…
Effects of Plant Communities on Human Physiological Recovery and Emotional Reactions
We investigated the effects on humans, in terms of skin conductance levels (SCLs) and positive and negative affect schedule (PANAS) scores, of plant communities that differed in their vegetation structure (single-layer woodland, tree-shrub-grass composite woodland, tree-grass composite woodland, and single-layer grassland) through two perceptual methods: onsite surveying and photo elicitation. The results showed that (1) the choice of perception …
Advice to use infant formula and free samples are common in both urban and rural areas in China
Objective: To examine the association between the place of residence and receiving free samples and advice to feed the baby with infant formula. Design: A cross-sectional study. Setting: The current study covered twelve counties/districts in China. Participants: 5112 mothers with infants aged 0–5·9 months. Results: About 16 % of the mothers received free samples of infant formula. During pregnancy, this likelihood was higher among mothers in smal…
Comparison of macronutrient contents in human milk measured using mid‐infrared human milk analyser in a field study vs. chemical reference methods
Macronutrient contents in human milk are the common basis for estimating these nutrient requirements for both infants and lactating women. A mid-infrared human milk analyser (HMA, Miris, Sweden) was recently developed for determining macronutrient levels. The purpose of the study is to compare the accuracy and precision of HMA method with fresh milk samples in the field studies with chemical methods with frozen samples in the lab. Full breast mil…
The nutrition-based comprehensive intervention study on childhood obesity in China (Niscoc)
Present study is the first and biggest multi-center comprehensive childhood obesity intervention study in China. Should the study produce comprehensive results, the intervention strategies would justify a national school-based program to prevent childhood obesity in China
