  • Dietary Habits and Nutritional Status of Youths Living in Rural and Semi-Urban Albania in the Ongoing Nutrition Transition

Open Access•Ruden Cakoni, Stefania Moramarco et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2025

The MD is a cornerstone for ensuring the Albanian population's long-term health and well-being. This study holds significant public health relevance in a country with high mortality rates due to cardiovascular diseases. Future nutrition interventions focused on the poor MD adherence of new generations should take into consideration geographic, cultural, and social dimensions, including gender equality

  • Classic Bioelectrical Impedance Vector Reference Values for Assessing Body Composition in Male and Female Athletes

Open Access•Francesco Campa, Catarina Matias et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2019

Bioimpedance standards are well established for the normal healthy population and in clinical settings, but they are not available for many sports categories. The aim of this study was to develop reference values for male and female athletes using classic bioimpedance vector analysis (BIVA). In this study, 1556 athletes engaged in different sports were evaluated during their off-season period. A tetrapolar bioelectrical impedance analyzer was use…

  • Assessment of total body potassium in healthy Italian men

Open Access•Antonino De Lorenzo, A Andréoli et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•2004

TBK and BCM decrease significantly with ageing, which could result in decreased functional capacity in older adults

  • Does Psychological Stress Affect the Course of Ulcerative Colitis

    S Levenstein, Vilma Varvo et al.•ARTICLE•Psychosomatic Medicine•1998

Levenstein, S; Varvo, V; Scribano, ML; Berto, E; Milite, G; Andreoli, A; Luzi, C; Prantera, C Author Information

  • Assessment of body hydration in subjects with schistosomiasis

Open Access•Antonino De Lorenzo, Giorgio Bedogni et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•1997

Total body water (TBW) was measured by deuterium oxide dilution (D2O) and predicted by bioelectric impedance analysis (BIA) (Deurenberg, Schouten, Andreoli and De Lorenzo 1993) in 21 subjects with Schistosoma mansoni infection and 17 healthy controls of similar age (32.8 +/- 13.7 years, n=38). Patients were selected to have no visible fluid retention and no cardiac or renal abnormalities. Body hydration (TBW per kg of body weight) was significant…

  • Multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance

Open Access•Paul Deurenberg, A Andréoli et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•1996

Total body water and extracellular water were measured by deuterium oxide and bromide dilution respectively in 23 healthy males and 25 healthy females. In addition, total body impedance was measured at 17 frequencies, ranging from 1 kHz to 1350 kHz. Modelling programs were used to extrapolate impedance values to frequency zero (extracellular resistance) and frequency infinity (total body water resistance). Impedance indexes (height2/Zf) were comp…

  • Development of the perceived stress questionnaire

Open Access•S Levenstein, Cosimo Prantera et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Psychosomatic Research•1993
