  • Prediction-Related Frontal-Temporal Network for Omission Mismatch Activity in the Macaque Monkey

Open Access•Yuki Suda, Mariko Tada et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2022

Sensory prediction is considered an important element of mismatch negativity (MMN) whose reduction is well known in patients with schizophrenia. Omission MMN is a variant of the MMN which is elicited by the absence of a tone previously sequentially presented. Omission MMN can eliminate the effects of sound differences in typical oddball paradigms and affords the opportunity to identify prediction-related signals in the brain. Auditory predictions…

  • Antimicrobial resistance of enteric pathogens in the Military Health System, 2009 – 2019

Open Access•Hayley R Ashbaugh, Hayley Ashbaugh et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2022

This study revealed inconsistent enteropathogen AST conducted across the MHS, with differing trends between CONUS and OCONUS locations. Additional work is needed to assess pathogen-specific gaps in testing and reporting to develop optimal surveillance that supports the health of the force

  • Randomized controlled trial evaluating the effect of an interactive group counseling intervention for HIV-positive women on prenatal depression and disclosure of HIV status

Sylvia Kaaya, Sylvia F Kaaya et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2013

The objective of the study was to assess the effectiveness of group counseling, using a problem-solving therapy approach, on reducing depressive symptoms and increasing prenatal disclosure rates of HIV status among HIV-positive pregnant women living in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. A randomized controlled trial was performed comparing a six-week structured nurse-midwife facilitated psychosocial support group with the standard of care. Sixty percent of…

  • Age variation in the upper limit of hearing and amplitude of eye accommodation in childhood and adolescence

Open Access•Ichiro Morioka, Tadashi Shiraishi et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•1990

The upper limit of hearing and amplitude of eye accommodation were examined, and their standard aging curves were established in order to evaluate their age-related changes in childhood and adolescence. The subjects were 2497 audiometrically and otologically normal ears and 2349 optometrically and ophthalmologically normal eyes ranging in age from 5 to 24 years in Japan. The upper limit of hearing was measured by the equipment made by us. The amp…
