  • Comparison of tobacco and alcohol use in films produced in Europe, Latin America, and the United States

    Open Access•Inti Barrientos-Gutierrez, Christy Kollath‐Cattano et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2015

Smoking was more commonly depicted in films produced outside the US, however there were few differences in the means for smoking screen time in films that contained smoking. This may be partly explained by the prohibition of tobacco product placement in the US. Countries should consider banning paid placement of both products and eliminating subsidies for films with content that promotes tobacco and alcohol use

  • Assessing tobacco marketing receptivity among youth

    Sandra Braun, Christy Kollath‐Cattano et al.•ARTICLE•Tobacco Control•2015

There is public awareness about salt, but not about the term "sodium." More salt and sodium are consumed than what is reported and there are no prospects of reducing that consumption. Although it is understood that excessive consumption of salt is a health risk, participants do not perceive that they are at risk. Replacing the word "sodium" with the word "salt" would facilitate food selection
