    Open Access•Natalia V Bhattacharjee, Austin E Schumacher et al.•ARTICLE•The Lancet•2024

BACKGROUND: Accurate assessments of current and future fertility-including overall trends and changing population age structures across countries and regions-are essential to help plan for the profound social, economic, environmental, and geopolitical challenges that these changes will bring. • Global burden of 288 causes of death and life expectancy decomposition in 204 countries and territories and 811 subnational locations, 1990–2021: A systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease…

Open Access•Mohsen Naghavi, Kanyin Liane Ong et al.•ARTICLE•The Lancet•2024

BACKGROUND: Regular, detailed reporting on population health by underlying cause of death is fundamental for public health decision making. • Post Covid sequelae among Covid-19 survivors: Insights from the Indian National Clinical Registry for Covid-19

Open Access•Gunjan Kumar, Ashish Bhalla et al.•ARTICLE•BMJ Global Health•2023

INTRODUCTION: The effects of COVID-19 infection persist beyond the active phase. Comprehensive description and analysis of the post COVID sequelae in various population groups are critical to minimise the long-term morbidity and mortality associated with COVID-19. This analysis was conducted with an objective to estimate the frequency of post COVID sequelae and subsequently, design a framework for holistic management of post COVID morbidities. ME…

  • Estimating the weight of consumed tobacco product waste in various Indian states: A novel method to assess the potential burden of tobacco product waste

Yogesh Jain, Pankaj Bhardwaj et al.•ARTICLE•Tobacco Control•2023

This study provides first of its kind national-level evidence on the types (plastic, paper, foil and filter) and quantity of waste potentially generated by use of tobacco products in India. Similar studies from other LMICs can serve to raise consciousness about many negative environmental impacts of tobacco products and need for policies to address them

  • Recalibrating the Non-Communicable Diseases risk prediction tools for the rural population of Western India

Open Access•Manoj Kumar Gupta, Pankaja Raghav et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2022

IDRS was found to have the maximum AUC and sensitivity thereby demonstrating its usefulness as compared to other tools for screening of both diabetes and hypertension. It thus has the potential to expose the hidden NCD iceberg. Hence, we propose IDRS as a useful tool in screening of Diabetes and Hypertension in rural India
