  • Adoption of AI-powered technologies for food upcycling in green hotels

Dong Zheng, Zheng Dong et al.•ARTICLE•British Food Journal•2025

Purpose Food waste is one of the main concerns in the hotel industry that contributes to economic inefficiencies and overuse of natural resources. Using AI-powered technologies in food upcycling is a novel method to create value-added products that promote a circular economy. This study assesses green hotels' adoption of AI-powered technologies in food upcycling. Design/methodology/approach The data were collected from 342 employees working in fi…

  • Temporal trends and regional disparities in prostate cancer mortality in the United States, 1999–2023

Open Access•Zhifang Chai, Zixiong Chai et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

From 1999 to 2023, prostate cancer mortality among U.S. men aged 45 years and older showed a consistent decline. While the AAMR continued to decrease, the rate of decline slowed after 2013, likely due to changes in prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening practices. In contrast, the observed rise in the absolute number of deaths mainly reflects demographic effects associated with population aging. The greatest burdens were observed among residen…

  • Time-Constrained Adaptive Influence Maximization

Open Access•Guangmo Tong, Ruiqi Wang et al.•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Computational…•2021

The well-known influence maximization problem (IM) aims at maximizing the influence of one information cascade in a social network by selecting appropriate seed users prior to the diffusion process. In its adaptive version, additional seed users can be selected after observing certain diffusion results. On the other hand, social computing tasks are often time-critical, and therefore, only the influence resulted in the early period is worthwhile, …

  • The decreasing marginal value of evaluation network size

Dong Zheng, Zheng Dong et al.•ARTICLE•ACM SIGCAS Computers and Society•2011

The best way to protect information is never to release it. Yet even the earliest definition of security recognizes availability as a necessary quality. In this work, we seek to quantify the value of information disclosure for web resource evaluation and discovery. Communal evaluation tools help users share ratings on websites, music, and other online resources. This approach assumes that experiences are self-similar, so that a site one person vi…
