Paecilomyces hepiali Chen (Cs-4) polysaccharides ameliorate chronic liver fibrosis via inhibiting TGF-β1/Smad and NLRP3/Caspase-1-mediated hepatic stellate cells activation in vivo and in vitro
Interaction of proteinuria and diabetes on the risk of cardiovascular events
In summary, among participants with CKD stages 2-5, proteinuria and diabetes were found to independently and jointly affect the risk of cardiovascular events. Participants with proteinuria and diabetes had the highest risk of cardiovascular events compared with other groups
The role of patient volunteers in Fangcang Shelter Hospital during the Omicron wave of Covid-19 pandemic in Shanghai, China
Objective: During the Omicron wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Shanghai, Fangcang Shelter Hospital (FSH) served as the major way in patient quarantine. Many COVID patients served as volunteers in FSH providing a lot of assistance for the medical workers and other COVID patients. The aim of this study was to explore the experiences of patient volunteers in FSH. It helps health professionals better understand their motivational incentives and barri…
Correlation of CpG Island Methylation of the Cytochrome P450 2E1/2D6 Genes with Liver Injury Induced by Anti-Tuberculosis Drugs
This study investigated the role of CpG island methylation of the CYP2E1 and CYP2D6 genes in liver injury induced by anti-TB drugs from an epigenetic perspective in a Chinese cohort. A 1:1 matched nested case-control study design was applied. Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) patients, who underwent standard anti-TB therapy and developed liver injury were defined as cases, while those who did not develop liver injury were defined as control. The two gr…
Effects of 90-Day Feeding of Transgenic Maize BT799 on the Reproductive System in Male Wistar Rats
BT799 is a genetically modified (GM) maize plant that expresses the Cry1Ac gene from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt). The Cry1Ac gene was introduced into maize line Zhen58 to encode the Bt crystal protein and thus produce insect-resistant maize BT799. Expression of Bt protein in planta confers resistance to Lepidopteran pests and corn rootworms. The present study was designed to investigate any potential effects of BT799 on the reproductive system of…
