Finger citron fruit ameliorates ovariectomy-induced postmenopausal metabolic syndrome through regulation of lipogenesis and ferroptosis-related alterations
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), "Jianpi Liqi Huatan" (strengthening the spleen, regulating qi, and resolving phlegm) represents a traditional therapeutic strategy for managing obesity-associated metabolic disorders. According to TCM theory, postmenopausal MS is primarily associated with spleen deficiency, qi stagnation, and phlegm-dampness accumulation. Finger Citron Fruit (FCF), a representative Lingnan med…
Prophylactic isoimperatorin protects against LPS-ALI via mTOR-dependent control of inflammation, oxidative stress and ferroptosis markers
ISO protected against LPS-induced ALI under a prophylactic dosing protocol via mTOR-dependent signaling (predominantly mTORC1), thereby restraining inflammation, oxidative stress, and ferroptosis-related markers. These findings support ISO as a mechanistically informed prophylactic lead that warrants evaluation under post-insult therapeutic regimens
Impacts of Antibiotic Residues in the Environment on Bacterial Resistance and Human Health in Eastern China
Antibiotic resistance is a global health challenge that threatens human and animal lives, especially among low-income and vulnerable populations in less-developed countries. Its multi-factorial nature requires integrated studies on antibiotics and resistant bacteria in humans, animals, and the environment. To achieve a comprehensive understanding of the situation and management of antibiotic use and environmental transmission, this paper describe…
