    The penetration of Buddhism into China and its amalgamation with the native religious culture constitute an interesting and important historical movement about which little is yet known. This article is a study based on some of the important documents from which the history of Buddhism in China must be ascertained, with the aim of disclosing Buddhism as a living religion satisfying deep religious needs
