  • Right-to-work laws, union decline, and the opioid crisis

Open Access•Kelly Chen, Yingying Dong et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Population Economics•2026

A large literature links de-unionization to determinants of health, but direct evidence on objective health outcomes remains scarce. Exploiting the staggered implementation of right-to-work (RTW) laws across four US states, we quantify the role of union presence in opioid misuse. We combine the synthetic control method with staggered differences-in-differences to estimate time-varying effects. RTW adoption is followed by a persistent decline in u…

  • Substance basis and fermentation mechanism study of the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of Tibetan medicine Wuwei Ganlu based on JiuQu fermentation

    Open Access•Yangyang Sun, Yang-yang Sun et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2025

  • Consumer attitude and behavioural intention towards organic wine: The roles of consumer values and involvement

    Open Access•Yingying Dong, Yixing Gao•ARTICLE•British Food Journal•2024

Purpose This study aims to identify the decision-making process involved in the purchase of organic wine from consumer values to attitudes to behavioural intention towards organic wine via the value–attitude–behaviour (VAB) model. Involvement in wine is also taken into consideration. Design/methodology/approach The data were collected using a snowball sampling method and a closed-ended questionnaire. A total of 209 responses were analysed. Linear…

  • Zishen Yutai pills restore fertility in premature ovarian failure through regulating arachidonic acid metabolism and the ATK pathway

Open Access•Lei Dang, Yingying Dong et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2024

  • When can we ignore measurement error in the running variable

Open Access•Yingying Dong, Michal Kolesár•ARTICLE•Journal of Applied Econometrics•2023

In many applications of regression discontinuity designs, the running variable used to assign treatment is only observed with error. We show that, provided the observed running variable (i) correctly classifies treatment assignment and (ii) affects the conditional means of potential outcomes smoothly, ignoring the measurement error nonetheless yields an estimate with a causal interpretation: the average treatment effect for units whose observed r…

  • Regression Discontinuity Designs With Sample Selection

Yingying Dong•ARTICLE•Journal of Business and Economic…•2019

This article extends the standard regression discontinuity (RD) design to allow for sample selection or missing outcomes. We deal with both treatment endogeneity and sample selection. Identification in this article does not require any exclusion restrictions in the selection equation, nor does it require specifying any selection mechanism. The results can therefore be applied broadly, regardless of how sample selection is incurred. Identification…

  • Identifying the Effect of Changing the Policy Threshold in Regression Discontinuity Models

Yingying Dong, Arthur Lewbel•ARTICLE•The Review of Economics and…•2015

Regression discontinuity models are commonly used to nonparametrically identify and estimate a local average treatment effect (LATE).We show that the derivative of the treatment effect with respect to the running variable at the cutoff, referred to as the treatment effect derivative (TED), is nonparametrically identified, easily estimated, and has implications for testing external validity and extrapolating the estimated LATE away from the cutoff…
